CORON RESILIENT COMMUNITIES PROJECTS

WASH Consultant

Cordaid is the Catholic Organisation for Relief and Development Aid. We are a member of the international Caritas Network and have come to the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Yolanda to contribute to the recovery and to look forward to building a more resilient future for the affected communities.

In the Coron Municipality of Busuanga Island, Palawan six barangays: Malawig, Buenavista, Tara, Banuang Daan, Cabugao and Guadalupe (A total of 1,866 households) have been selected for Cordaid’s ‘Resilient Communities Projects’ Though this program Cordaid intends to implement over the coming two years an integrated program (shelter, water, sanitation, livelihood, DRR and protection) for recovery and development. A field team comprising a program coordinator, community development and technical staff will be set up, located and operating from the Cordaid / AVT-SAC / NASSA Offices, Coron Town.

Cordaid is currently looking for a WASH Consultant, Cordaid Coron for its ‘Resilient Communities Projects’ program in Coron after the disaster caused by typhoon Haiyan.

Terms of Reference (TOR) for WASH Consultant, Cordaid Coron

  1. Nature of Consultancy: Consultant for Community Water Sanitation and Hygyne (WASH)
    2. Purpose of Assignment:

The main purpose of the contract is to organize 2-month duration Water and sanitation needs assessment the identified four (4) Barangays.

By the end of 2 months duration with the following outputs and deliverable:

· Complete and re-assess package/data for water needs assessment results

· Deliver full reports and recommendations based on needs assessment results.

· Prepare and deliver project proposal base on the full report. · Detailed Engineering design of water system for presentation and implementation via community driven development approach.

  1. Official Travel involved

· Return airfare on economy class from place of recruitment to Coron, Palawan will be provided. · Accommodation in Coron will be provided for the duration of the consultancy.

5**.Qualifications or Specialized Knowledge /Experience Required**

There minimal criteria will include:

· With advance university degree in water and sanitation, public health, social sciences, civil engineering and other related fields

· Minimum 7 years of experience in the WASH sector especially in rural sanitation, including at least 5 years of working experiences in Community-Led Sanitation (CLTS) initiatives.

· Working experience in remote area of the Philippines is preferred

· Have experience in coordinating facilitators and community organizer. · Familiar with the current and sanitation in the Philippines, specially similar in Coron, Palawan

7.Type of Supervision that will be provided:

The consultant will be based in Coron, Palawan. The consultant will meet with Cordaid Technical team upon arrival in Coron, Palawan and develop work plan with deliverables.

Performance evaluation of the WASH Consultant will be conducted at the end of the assignment for possible opportunity Final payment will only be done after satisfactory delivery and acceptance of all expected outputs and deliverables
